KARACHI: Pakistan completed a dominant 3-0 series whitewash against Zimbabwe Women at the National Stadium in Karachi. The hosts secured a clinical nine-wicket victory in the third and final ODI, chasing down a target of 223 in just 31.5 overs.
Pakistan’s pursuit was defined by a masterclass opening partnership between Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas. Feroza followed up her earlier series success with a brilliant unbeaten 106 off 92 balls, showcasing her aggressive intent with 16 boundaries. Her counterpart, Sadaf Shamas, narrowly missed out on a second century of the series, falling for 90 off 98 balls. The pair shared a 220-run opening stand, effectively batting Zimbabwe out of the contest within the first 30 overs.
During this innings, Sadaf Shamas became the first Pakistani woman to score five consecutive ODI half-centuries, cementing her role as a linchpin of the top order. Following Shamas’s dismissal, captain Muneeba Ali stepped in to finish the game with a boundary, remaining unbeaten on 4.
Earlier in the day, Zimbabwe won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch that offered more bounce than previous surfaces. Zim Women posted 222/9, their highest total of the series. The innings was anchored by Beloved Biza, who struck a composed 73 off 88 deliveries. Biza shared a crucial 50-run partnership with Kelis Ndhlovu (50), which briefly looked to challenge the Pakistani bowling attack.
However, Zimbabwe’s momentum stalled as they lost wickets at regular intervals during the middle overs. Captain Nomvelo Sibanda added a valuable unbeaten 35 late in the innings to push the score past 200, but it ultimately proved insufficient against a rampant Pakistan batting lineup.
The Pakistani bowlers maintained their disciplined form throughout the series. Tasmia Rubab was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3/49 from her 10 overs. She provided the early breakthrough and returned to polish off the tail. Ayesha Zafar was equally impressive and highly economical, claiming 2/13 in her six-over spell. Syeda Aroob Shah also chipped in with two vital wickets for 36 runs.
The series sweep highlights the significant gulf in quality between the two sides,
The opening duo of Feroza and Shamas emerged as the find of the series, breaking records for the most runs by an opening pair in a bilateral series.
The action now shifts to the shorter format, with a three-match T20I series scheduled to begin on May 12, 2026, at the same venue.
