Pak Women vs Zim Women Live: ZIM Fight Back After Early Loss

Pak Women vs Zim Women Live: ZIM Fight Back After Early Loss

KARACHI: Zimbabwe’s top order showed renewed steel in the third and final ODI at the National Stadium, reaching 99 for 2 after the first 20 overs after electing to bat first against Pakistan. Seeking to avoid a clean sweep in the ICC Women’s Championship series, the visitors produced their most composed Powerplay performance of the tour so far.

The morning began with Zimbabwe captain Nomvelo Sibanda winning the toss and opting to set a target, a move that initially looked precarious under overcast skies.

Pakistan’s opening bowlers made an immediate impact, striking in the very first over. Kelly Ndiraya, who had struck two boundaries to briefly ignite the visitors, fell for 8 when she was caught off the bowling of Ayesha Zafar. The first wicket fell with just 16 runs on the board, immediately putting Zimbabwe on the back foot. After it, Vimbai Mutungwindu (2) also got out early, leaving 22/2

Following the early losses, Kelis Ndlovu and Beloved Biza were forced into a recovery mission. The pair showed significant composure, choosing to prioritize strike rotation and punishing only the rare loose deliveries from the Pakistan seamers. Ndlovu played the role of the aggressor, reaching a well-constructed half-century.By the end of the 20th over, Zimbabwe had recovered to near triple figures, with Biza remaining unbeaten in the 40s.

While Pakistan’s bowlers have managed to stem the boundary flow in the second ten-over block, Zimbabwe’s recovery to nearly 100 runs for the loss of just two wickets sets the stage for a competitive total, a stark contrast to their previous outings in Karachi.
