Pak Women Beat Zim Women in 2nd ODI: Series Clinched with Record Total

KARACHI: Pakistan Women secured a clinical 206-run victory over Zimbabwe Women in the second ODI at the National Stadium in Karachi, clinching the three-match series with a game to spare. Riding on a record-breaking batting performance, the hosts dominated every department to record their second consecutive massive win in the ICC Women’s Championship 2025-29 cycle.

Centurions Set the Stage

Choosing to bat first, Pakistan’s openers Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas dismantled the Zimbabwean bowling attack with a historic 189-run partnership. Gull Feroza struck a blistering century, reaching the milestone in just 93 balls, the fastest ODI hundred for Pakistan Women, featuring 13 boundaries. Her partner, Sadaf Shamas, followed suit with her own maiden ODI hundred, scoring 101 off 112 deliveries to continue her prolific form after missing out on a century by two runs in the series opener.

Their relentless aggression laid the groundwork for Pakistan's highest-ever ODI total, surpassing the 330 they set just two days prior.

Late Blitz Powers Pakistan to 343

The momentum shifted seamlessly into the middle and death overs as Sidra Amin took control. Amin anchored the latter half of the innings with an unbeaten 59 off 58 balls, marking her 15th ODI half-century. Late-inning cameos from Aliya Riaz (27) and Ayesha Zafar (18*) ensured the scoring rate remained near seven runs per over, as Pak Women plundered 104 runs in the final ten overs to finish at 343/4.

For Zimbabwe, the bowling effort was led by captain Nomvelo Sibanda and Christine Mutasa, who each claimed a wicket, but they struggled to contain a batting lineup that looked comfortable on a flat Karachi track.

Zimbabwe Falter Under Pressure

Chasing a target of 344, Zimbabwe’s reply never gained the necessary traction. The visitors were pegged back early by Pakistan's pace battery, slumping to 75/3 within the first 20 overs. While Beloved Biza and Kelis Ndhlovu provided brief resistance, the scoreboard pressure eventually forced errors.

Fatima Sana was the standout performer with the ball, dismantling the lower order to finish with figures of 3/15. Momina Riasat and Rameen Shamim supported well, picking up two wickets apiece as Zimbabwe was eventually bowled out for 137 in 39 overs.Series OutlookWith this victory, Pakistan takes an unassailable 2–0 lead in the three-match series. The win provides significant points for the hosts in the ICC Women's Championship table, moving them closer to direct qualification for the next World Cup. The two sides will meet again for the final ODI on May 9 before transitioning to the T20I leg of the tour.
