PSL 11: Saad Masood Confident of Strong Start with Rawalpindiz

PSL 11: Saad Masood Confident of Strong Start with Rawalpindiz

LAHORE: Young all-rounder Saad Masood has shared his confidence as Rawalpindiz gear up for their first-ever season in the Pakistan Super League. With the tournament set to begin soon, Masood believes the team has what it takes to make an immediate impact.

Speaking to the media at the Lahore Cricket Club Academy, he highlighted the importance of preparation and team unity in building a strong campaign. He also acknowledged the guidance he has received from senior players within the squad.

Rizwan’s Support and Handling Pressure

Masood specifically praised captain Mohammad Rizwan for his constant support and motivation, while also addressing the challenge of managing public attention.

“The crowd, especially the Rawalpindi fans, will miss the matches, but we will try our best not to disappoint them,” Masood said.

“Mohammad Rizwan backs me a lot and always tells me to give my hundred percent. Our goal in Rawalpindiz’s first season is to perform well and become champions. I do follow social media, but not too much, as criticism does create some pressure,” he added.

Team Preparation and Personal Goals

The all-rounder, who recently made his international debut during Pakistan’s ODI series against Bangladesh, shared a positive update on preparations.

“Preparations are going well and we have played a warm-up match. It’s a new team and we will try to perform well. As an all-rounder, I always aim to contribute in all three departments, and healthy competition only helps improve the game,” he stated.

PSL 11 Format and Venue Changes

The upcoming PSL season will feature eight teams and 44 matches over 39 days, with Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz joining the league.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has limited matches to Karachi and Lahore, to be played without spectators. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the changes after consultations with franchise owners and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Rizwan-led side will begin their PSL 11 journey against Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday. With matches set to be played behind closed doors, organisers have promised improved broadcast coverage for fans worldwide.
