LAHORE: Peshawar Zalmi have bolstered their squad for Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 by signing Zimbabwean emerging batter Brian Bennett. The move was officially confirmed by Zalmi owner Afridi on his social media.
“We welcome Brian John Bennett from Zimbabwe to the Zalmi family,” Afridi posted, welcoming the talented right-hander. With this addition, Bennett joins Sikandar Raza as the only other Zimbabwean representing a team in PSL 11, making the franchise’s lineup more diverse and competitive.
Bennett entered the PSL spotlight following an outstanding ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, where he ranked as the sixth-highest run-scorer. The 22-year-old amassed 292 runs in six matches at an impressive average of 146, including three half-centuries. His highest score of 97 not out came against India in the Super Eights stage, and he maintained a strike rate of 134.
Overall, Bennett has featured in 58 T20Is, scoring 1,888 runs, including a century and 12 half-centuries. Notably, PSL 11 will mark his debut in an overseas T20 league, providing a fresh platform for the emerging talent to showcase his batting prowess.
The 11th edition of PSL is set to begin on March 26, with matches held behind closed doors at Karachi and Lahore. This season will be historic, as the league expands to eight teams for the first time, welcoming debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen and RawalPindiz. Fans can look forward to 44 matches played over a 39-day period, promising high-octane cricket action throughout.
Bennett’s addition further strengthens the Peshawar Zalmi PSL 11 squad, which now includes:
Babar Azam (c), Sufiyan Muqeem, Brian Bennett, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Abdul Samad, Ali Raza, Aaron Hardie, Aamir Jamal, Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Haris, Khalid Usman, Abdul Subhan, James Vince, Michael Bracewell, Kusal Mendis, Iftikhar Ahmed, Nahid Rana, Mirza Tahir Baig, Kashif Ali, Shahnawaz Dahani, Farhan Yousuf, and Shoriful Islam.
This strategic signing not only strengthens Zalmi’s batting depth but also highlights the growing PSL international talent pool and the league’s appeal to emerging players worldwide.
