LAHORE: Mir Hamza has expressed confidence in David Warner’s leadership ahead of the new Pakistan Super League season, saying the captain’s presence provides stability to Karachi Kings as they prepare for PSL 11.
Warner, who continues as captain for a second season, previously led Karachi Kings to the playoffs, where their campaign ended in the knockout stage. The franchise has since reshaped parts of its squad and is aiming for a stronger finish this season.
Speaking to media during preparations, Hamza praised Warner’s approach to leadership and his support for players in the squad.
“Having David Warner as captain again this season is a big positive for us. He is very supportive and a natural leader,” Hamza said while speaking to the media ahead of the team’s training session.
Hamza also spoke about the team’s squad composition, highlighting the role of all-rounders and middle-order depth. He pointed out that the presence of players who can contribute in multiple departments adds balance to the side.
“We also have a strong middle-order option in Salman Ali Agha, who can contribute with both bat and ball and is capable of playing long innings,” he added.
The left-arm pacer said the team’s preparation phase had picked up pace after a short break and that warm-up matches were helping the squad regain rhythm ahead of the tournament.
“Our preparation is going well, and the warm-up match has come at the right time. We needed match practice as a team, and today’s game helped us a lot in getting into rhythm,” he said.
With more teams participating this season, the competition level in PSL 11 is expected to be higher. Hamza acknowledged the challenge but said his focus remained on contributing to Karachi Kings’ campaign.
“All franchises have built strong squads, so we will see a good competition. My focus is to perform for my team and contribute wherever needed,” he remarked.
Karachi Kings will open their campaign against Quetta Gladiators as they begin their PSL 11 season with a squad combining overseas players and domestic talent.
