Islamabad vs Multan Live: Chapman Blitz Powers Islamabad to 171/8 in A Thrilling PSL 11 Match 4

Islamabad United posted a challenging total of 171/8 in their opening fixture of the PSL 11.

After being put in to bat by Sultans’ captain Ashton Turner, United relied on a blistering cameo from Mark Chapman and steady contributions across the middle order to set a target that will test the Sultans’ vaunted batting lineup.

Chapman blazed 40 runs off just 21 deliveries, punctuating his stay with a series of innovative sweeps and powerful lofted drives that momentarily demoralized the Sultans' spin contingent.

The foundation of the innings was further solidified by veteran Devon Conway (26) and Sameer Minhas (28) in the powerplay. Ashraf’s late-innings (26 off 17 balls) flourish was particularly crucial. He ensured United surpassed the 170-run mark despite losing wickets at regular intervals.

Qamar Leads Sultans’ Fightback

The Multan Sultans, however, refused to let the game slip away entirely. Momin Qamar emerged as the standout performer with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 3/24 in his three overs. Qamar’s ability to vary his pace and extract bounce from the Lahore surface proved to be United's undoing.

Supporting Qamar was the pace of Mohammad Wasim Jr., who, despite being more expensive with figures of 2/42. His yorkers, though occasionally missing their mark, prevented the tail from adding significant runs in the final over.

The Outlook

At the halfway stage, the contest remains finely balanced. While 171 is a defendable total given Islamabad United’s formidable bowling attack, the Gaddafi Stadium pitch historically favors chasing teams under lights. The Sultans will require a strong start from their openers to chase down the 8.6 runs per over required for victory.
