“No Answer” – Asif Mehmood Shuts Down Comeback Talk

“No Answer” – Asif Mehmood Shuts Down Comeback Talk

KARACHI: Hyderabad Kingsmen pacer Asif Mehmood delivered a decisive performance in his side’s win over Islamabad United in PSL season 11 at the National Stadium, before offering a short response when asked about a potential return to the national side.

During a post-match interaction with Zainab Abbas and Sana Mir, Mehmood was asked whether his performances could lead to a comeback. He replied, “No answer.” Sana Mir later described the reaction as “very sensible,” referencing a similar moment involving Usman Khan in a previous season.

Match Performance

Asif Mehmood played a key role with the ball, finishing with four wickets in a short spell that shifted the game in Kingsmen’s favour. His effort helped restrict Islamabad United to 153 for nine after they were put in to bat.

Devon Conway led the scoring with 45, while Mark Chapman contributed 42. Other contributions came from Sameer Minhas and Mohammad Faiq, but the innings lacked momentum in the closing overs.

Chase led by Labuschagne

Hyderabad Kingsmen completed the chase with four wickets in hand, driven by an unbeaten half-century from captain Marnus Labuschagne. He scored 61 not out and held the innings together during the middle phase.

Support came from Saim Ayub and Maaz Sadaqat, while Glenn Maxwell added quick runs late in the innings to close out the match with 11 balls remaining.

For Islamabad United, Chris Green and Faheem Ashraf picked up two wickets each but were unable to defend the total.

Background

Mehmood had earlier represented Pakistan at the Under-19 level, including a tour of Kenya where he produced a four-wicket haul in one of the matches. His recent showing in PSL season 11 continues a run of strong performances in domestic cricket.

His brief “No answer” response leaves his international prospects open, with attention now on his performances in the ongoing tournament.
