Former Australia batter Usman Khawaja has been impressed by the young talent of Pakistan he saw during the recent PSL 2026 season. He believes these players will shine bright for Pakistan in the upcoming years, as they have plenty of talent and composure to play at the international level.

Speaking in a social media video, he first highlighted Sameer Minhas who looked in great touch playing for Islamabad United in the PSL 2026 season. He said Minhas has a bright future, as he is a proper batting talent.

“Sameer Minas played for Islamabad and scored a fifty against us in Lahore. That guy whacked them. Young fella, I actually think he’s a beautiful player. He looks like he’s got a really cool base. Like all these younger guys, he smacks them. He had a couple of good innings and failed a few times as well, but that’s T20 cricket. He’s a young fella and I was really impressed,” said Usman Khawaja.

Usman then talked about the rising sensation Sahibzada Farhan, who was instrumental for Multan Sultans in the recent tournament. He praised the talent of Farhan, saying the batter knows how to score quick hundreds in T20 cricket.

“Sahibzada Farhan was smacking them everywhere. He has scored so many hundreds in the last few years in such a short period. He knows how to score centuries and he doesn’t do it slowly, he scores them quickly," said Usman Khawaja.

"He gets them at a strike rate of over 150 every time. He was impressive and looked like a player at the top of his game. At the age of 30, it looks like the perfect time for him to go out there and dominate in international cricket too. I really enjoyed watching him bat,” added Usman Khawaja.

Usman then shed light on the rise of young Ali Raza, saying he is a quality bowler who can trouble any batter with his pace and variations.

“Ali Raza was absolute heat. He was bowling at 150 consistently and he’s still a young fella. I loved his run-up and his action. Everything looked so smooth and then he just went bang. He even got a hat-trick in one of the games. He’s very exciting and although there are a few bowlers touching 150 in the PSL, he really stood out. He’s definitely one to look out for,” said Usman Khawaja.

Usman Khawaja praised the young talent of Pakistan that caught his attention during the PSL 2026. He said these players have loads of potential and they can play well for Pakistan in the future.

Usman Khawaja Picks Pakistan’s Rising Stars After PSL 11 Success

Karachi Kings captain David Warner has questioned why none of his team’s players were included in the recently announced Pakistan Super League 2026 Team of the Tournament.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the team on Monday, with Babar Azam appointed captain after guiding Peshawar Zalmi to the title while also delivering strong performances with the bat.

The lineup included three players each from Peshawar Zalmi and Hyderabad Kingsmen, two each from Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United, and one player each from Multan Sultans and Quetta Gladiators. Surprisingly, no players from Karachi Kings or Rawalpindi sides made it into the 12-member squad, raising serious questions about the selection process.

Taking this into consideration, David Warner reacted on Instagram under the PSL’s official post, writing “Where is Karachi players,” suggesting that some key performances were ignored.

He was also Karachi Kings’ leading run scorer, making 256 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 147.97, including three half-centuries.

Meanwhile, Hasan Ali impressed with the ball as well, taking 15 wickets in nine matches and finishing among the top wicket-takers of the tournament.

Interestingly, none of these performances got the attention of the PCB, which prompted Warner to raise a quick question on social media.

David Warner raised concerns over the omission of Karachi Kings players from PSL 11 Team of the Tournament. He shared his views after the squad was recently revealed by the PCB on social media.

Fakhar Zaman | Lahore Qalandars

Even in a Lahore Qalandars campaign that never fully ignited, Fakhar Zaman delivered explosive powerplay performances that changed the course of matches. He finished as the second-highest run-scorer and no batter inside the top 10 matched his strike rate of 168.19. His partnership with Babar Azam produced 662 runs across nine innings, the second highest by any pair in PSL history. His wicketkeeping consistency behind the stumps added further value to every Peshawar Zalmi performance.

Kusal Mendis finished second-highest run scorer with elite strike rate, dominating opening partnerships and anchoring Peshawar Zalmi’s batting success.

Shan Masood | Multan Sultans

Shan Masood transformed his white-ball reputation completely during PSL 2026. A strike rate of 158.18 combined with a batting average close to 46 proved he was dominating the middle overs, not simply surviving them. His playoff performance in the first eliminator, scoring 69 not out while no teammate passed 18, was the single greatest individual rescue act of the entire PSL 11 group and knockout stage.

Shan Masood controlled middle overs with high strike rate and consistent scoring, delivering one of PSL 2026’s best playoff performances.

Usman Khan | Hyderabad Kingsmen

His 17 wickets placed him among the tournament's leading wicket-takers, and his leg-spin recalled the best version of himself from his 2017 breakthrough. A bowling economy of 7.02 for a spinner in high-scoring conditions was outstanding. As captain, he steered Islamabad United to second place on the group stage points table throughout the competition.

Shadab Khan delivered complete all-round impact with wickets and leadership, controlling middle overs effectively for Islamabad United throughout PSL 2026.

Hassan Khan was the breakout performer of PSL 11. The Hyderabad Kingsmen all-rounder contributed consistently across multiple phases of the game throughout a campaign that took his side all the way to the final. In a team built on collective effort rather than individual superstars, his tournament impact stood out repeatedly. His PSL 2026 stats mark him as one of the most exciting emerging talents produced by this edition.

Hassan Khan contributed consistent all-round performances, supporting Hyderabad Kingsmen’s balance with key wickets and useful middle-order batting throughout PSL 2026.

Shaheen Shah Afridi | Lahore Qalandars

The Shaheen Afridi PSL performance in 2026 reaffirmed his status as the most threatening left-arm fast bowler in the competition. His opening statement of 4 for 18 against Karachi Kings set the tone immediately. Even as Lahore Qalandars underperformed as a unit, Shaheen's wickets tally and consistency never dropped. Sixteen wickets at an average below 18.20 across the group stage is elite-level fast bowling by any measure.

Shaheen Shah Afridi remained a consistent wicket-taking force, striking early in powerplay and maintaining elite bowling standards across PSL 2026.

Hunain Shah | Hyderabad Kingsmen

Hunain Shah was not even a starter for Hyderabad Kingsmen initially, yet he transformed their entire season from game four onwards. His strike rate was the best of any fast bowler in PSL 2026. He contributed to seven wins from Kingsmen's final eight group stage games. His final over against Islamabad United, defending five runs to send his team into the PSL 2026 final, was the single greatest moment of the tournament.

Hunain Shah emerged as a breakout fast bowler, delivering match-winning death over performances and transforming Hyderabad Kingsmen’s season dramatically.

Sufyan Muqeem | Peshawar Zalmi

The official Player of the Tournament. The Sufyan Muqeem wickets PSL 2026 tally of 22 at a bowling average of 14.40 leads every meaningful metric by a significant margin. His economy of 7.20 proved he was controlling matches, not simply taking wickets in favorable conditions. Four wickets in his second game, three wickets in each of the following four, and 3 for 48 across the qualifier and final confirmed his complete consistency.

Sufyan Muqeem dominated PSL 2026 with most wickets, best economy, and consistent match control, becoming tournament’s most impactful bowler overall.

His ability to take wickets in the powerplay and at the death provided the perfect balance alongside Shadab Khan's spin. His tournament impact across all conditions and match situations contributed directly to United finishing second in the group stage. His wicket tally and consistency across the full competition make him a deserving inclusion in the PSL 2026 best XI.

Richard Gleeson provided reliable wicket-taking ability across all phases, strengthening Islamabad United’s bowling attack with consistent performances throughout PSL 2026.

Hasan Nawaz, the 12th Player | Quetta Gladiators

Hasan Nawaz earns his reserve spot through consistent performances for Quetta Gladiators and composure in pressure situations throughout the competition.

Babar has been a mainstay for Pakistan across formats for the majority of his career, but in recent times the 31-year-old has struggled to make runs on a consistent basis and the right-hander failed to make much of an impression during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup earlier this year.

But a title winning run as captain with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has reinvigorated Babar, with the former Pakistan skipper scoring two centuries across 11 matches to finish as the leading run-scorer at the tournament.

And now Babar Azam wants to continue that momentum he has rediscovered and use it to make runs for Pakistan across all formats.

"My focus is on all three formats," Babar said.

"I feel a batter should play all cricket and should not limit himself to white-ball cricket.

"Red-ball cricket teaches you the art of batting long and instils patience in you. It helps you to understand how you can score big runs.

"And all the learnings from the red-ball game help you in white-ball cricket."

Babar will likely get an immediate chance to continue his rich vein of form when Pakistan take on Bangladesh away from home in a two-match Test series that commences on Friday and is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship.

You have to go way back to December of 2022 to find the last time Babar scored a century in Test cricket.

His recent record against the white-ball prior to the PSL is not much better, with his sole half-century this calendar year coming at T20I level against Australia at the start of February and just prior to the T20 World Cup 2026.

It's a barren run that Babar accepts is well below his own lofty expectations and one that he is determined to work on in the coming years.

"I was not up to my own expectations, but it is normal for a batter to struggle with his execution," he said.

"You have to take a few steps back and assess where you are going wrong and correct it. You need support in such times, and my family and close friends kept me motivated. I discussed the areas of improvement with the coaches who are close to me and worked on them.
