Bangladesh face Zimbabwe in the opening match of the 2026 United Arab Emirates ODI Tri-Series at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, October 17. The match begins at 5:00 PM Pakistan Standard Time as both teams look to start the competition with a victory.

Bangladesh enter the contest as favourites, with a 66% win probability compared to Zimbabwe's 34%. Captain Litton Das will lead Bangladesh, while Sikandar Raza will captain Zimbabwe. Both sides have a mix of experienced international players and younger options who could influence the outcome.

Fans can enjoy streaming BAN vs ZIM live on tapmad for score updates, wickets and match progress throughout the tri-series. Bangladesh will look to make the most of their batting and bowling depth, while Zimbabwe will aim to challenge the favourites with a disciplined performance.

Bangladesh Aim for a Winning Start

Bangladesh will look to begin their UAE ODI Tri-Series campaign with a strong performance against Zimbabwe. Their squad features experienced batters, versatile all-rounders and a varied bowling attack, giving them several options across the match.

Litton Das will captain the side and provide a wicketkeeping option, while Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan and Tawhid Hridoy offer batting depth. Bangladesh will need their top order to build a solid foundation before accelerating during the middle and final overs.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mosaddek Hossain add all-round value with their off-spin and batting. Bangladesh also have spin options in Rishad Hossain and Tanvir Islam, while Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud provide pace and variation.

Bangladesh's ability to take early wickets and control Zimbabwe's scoring during the middle overs could prove important. A balanced performance with both bat and ball would give them a strong chance of securing their first win.

Zimbabwe Look to Challenge Bangladesh

Zimbabwe will aim to upset Bangladesh and begin their tri-series campaign on a positive note. Captain Sikandar Raza will be central to their plans, offering experience as a batter and an off-spin bowler.

Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine bring experience to the batting lineup, while Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, Wesley Madhevere and Ryan Burl provide further options. Zimbabwe will need their batters to handle Bangladesh's pace attack and build partnerships rather than lose wickets in clusters.

Raza's all-round contribution could be particularly valuable, with Ryan Burl and Wellington Masakadza offering additional spin options. Blessing Muzarabani, Brad Evans and Ernest Masuku provide pace bowling choices, giving Zimbabwe different ways to challenge Bangladesh's batting order.

Zimbabwe's chances will depend on their ability to establish a competitive total or restrict Bangladesh with early breakthroughs. A strong contribution from their senior players could help them overcome the gap in the pre-match win probability.

Bangladesh Team News

Bangladesh will be led by Litton Das, who is also listed as a wicketkeeper. Nurul Hasan provides another wicketkeeping option, while Najmul Hossain Shanto, Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan and Tawhid Hridoy strengthen the batting group.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mosaddek Hossain offer all-round options, while Saif Hassan adds batting and off-spin. The bowling attack includes Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam and Hasan Mahmud, alongside left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam and leg-spinner Rishad Hossain.

The squad provides Bangladesh with several combinations for the opening match. The final playing XI will determine the balance between pace, spin and batting depth at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Zimbabwe Team News

Zimbabwe will rely on Sikandar Raza's leadership and all-round skills in the opening ODI. Brendan Taylor is listed as a wicketkeeping option, while Tafadzwa Tsiga and Tadiwanashe Marumani provide additional wicketkeeping choices.

Craig Ervine, Brian Bennett, Ben Curran, Wesley Madhevere and Ryan Burl add batting options. Raza and Burl can also contribute with spin, alongside Wellington Masakadza and Vincent Masekesa.

Blessing Muzarabani, Brad Evans, Ernest Masuku and Newman Nyamhuri provide pace options. Zimbabwe will look for a balanced lineup that can compete with Bangladesh's varied attack and maintain pressure throughout the innings. The confirmed playing XI remains subject to the official team announcement.

Sikandar Raza will captain Zimbabwe in the upcoming ODI tri-series against Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the UAE from October 17 to 23.

Raza took charge of the team during last month's three-match home series against Australia, as regular captain Richard Ngarava was unavailable. He will continue as ODI captain for the upcoming tournament because Ngarava is still recovering from a back injury.

Notably, Zimbabwe have made two changes to their squad, bringing in uncapped players Tafadzwa Tsiga and Vincent Masekesa in place of Innocent Kaia and Graeme Cremer.

Cremer, who returned to ODI cricket during the Australia series after more than eight years, has not been included this time. Kaia has also missed out after suffering a thigh injury in the final match against Australia.

Zimbabwe will open their campaign against Bangladesh on October 17 before taking on Afghanistan in their second match of the ODI tri-series on October 19.

Zimbabwe’s schedule will remain busy after the one-day tournament, as they are due to meet Afghanistan again in Sharjah for a three-match T20I series followed by two Tests.

The T20I games will take place between October 27 and November 1. Vincent Masekesa has been included in Zimbabwe’s squad for this leg of the tour, while Graeme Cremer and Dion Myers have been left out.

Zimbabwe Name Sikandar Raza Captain for Upcoming ODI Tri-Series

Litton Das is back in Bangladesh’s squad as the team prepares for the upcoming ODI tri-series in the UAE. The Bangladesh Cricket Board has picked 16 players for the competition, which will run from October 17 to 23, featuring Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.

Das was left out of Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe in July after suffering an injury to his left calf. The wicketkeeper-batter has now recovered and earned a place in the squad ahead of the upcoming series.

Litton Das was also named Bangladesh’s ODI captain later in July, replacing Mehidy Hasan Miraz. His success as T20I captain helped him secure the role, while the board wanted Miraz to focus more on his all-round performance rather than captaincy.

Apart from Das, Hasan Mahmud is also back in Bangladesh’s ODI squad after consistently performing well in domestic cricket. Nahid Rana, on the other hand, has missed out on selection as he continues to recover from a side strain.

Bangladesh have also selected mystery spinner Aliss Al Islam for his first ODI assignment. The 29-year-old earned his place after putting in good performances in domestic cricket. He made his T20I debut for Bangladesh earlier this month at the Asian Games and has picked up 35 wickets in 19 List A matches, averaging 17.05 with an economy rate of 4.05.

Bangladesh will open their tri-series campaign against Zimbabwe on October 17 at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The same venue will host all four matches, including the final scheduled for October 23.
