Afghanistan vs Zimbabwe UAE ODI Tri-Series Final Highlights: Nabi, Rashid Guides Afghanistan to Title Victory

Afghanistan won the UAE ODI tri-series by defeating Zimbabwe in the final at Sharjah. Rashid Khan once again remained their star performer by picking up three wickets in the first innings to dismantle the visitors to a low total. Ibrahim Zadran then sealed the chase by batting brilliantly in the second innings, giving Afghanistan another major title while playing in the UAE.

After winning the toss, Zimbabwe elected to bat first, but their innings got off to a rocky start. They lost their top order quickly in the first few overs, giving Afghanistan a huge edge in the match. Sikandar Raza then built a small partnership with Ryan Burl to get their innings back on track. They were looking to extend it deep in the innings, but Mohammad Nabi broke it by dismissing Burl for 31 runs.

Afterwards, no other batter managed to give Raza the required support, as the middle order fell quickly due to Afghanistan’s ruthless bowling. As a result, Zimbabwe were bowled out for just 169 in the first innings, with Sikandar Raza remaining their lone star by scoring 68 off 83 balls.

Coming out to chase the target, Afghanistan got off to a great start, as both Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran played confidently to take the innings forward. Zimbabwe did picked up some wickets in the middle overs, but couldn’t halt the charge of Afghanistan completely, as Zadran remained strong at one end.

Due to his unbeaten knock of 70 runs, Afghanistan eventually completed the chase inside 35 overs for the loss of just three wickets. It helped them to lift the tri-series trophy that once again showcased their rising profile in the ODI format.
