SRH Pick Madushanka To Replace Injured Brydon Carse

SRH Pick Madushanka To Replace Injured Brydon Carse

Sunrisers Hyderabad have signed Sri Lanka left-arm fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka as an injury replacement for England pacer Brydon Carse for the remainder of IPL 2026, the franchise confirmed on Monday. Madushanka will join the squad for INR 75 lakh.

Carse, who was retained ahead of the 2026 auction, sustained a right-hand injury while batting in the nets before Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opening fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The injury ruled him out of the tournament despite early expectations of a quick recovery.

SRH Bowling Reshuffle

Madushanka’s arrival comes at a time when SRH’s bowling unit has been under pressure. With captain Pat Cummins also recovering from injury concerns and senior pacers Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat struggling for consistency, the attack has lacked stability in the early phase of the season.

The franchise responded by introducing two uncapped bowlers, Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, against Rajasthan Royals earlier this week. Both made an immediate impact, sharing eight wickets between them to help SRH secure a 57-run win.

Madushanka brings international experience into the squad, having played one Test, 28 ODIs and 19 T20Is for Sri Lanka, taking 70 wickets across formats. He was previously part of the Mumbai Indians squad in IPL 2024 but did not feature due to injury.

SRH Season Position

Sunrisers Hyderabad currently sit fourth on the points table with two wins and three defeats from five matches as they look to regain momentum in the league stage.
