Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan has earned a nomination for the Player of the Tournament award at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, following an extraordinary individual campaign even though the national side exited the tournament earlier than expected.
Sahibzada Farhan ended the competition with 383 runs in six innings, setting a new record for the highest aggregate in a single edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup. The right-handed batter also became the first player to score two centuries in a single tournament, achieving the milestone against Sri Lanka and Namibia. His consistent performances at the top of the order stood out as a bright spot in Pakistan’s otherwise disappointing campaign.
England all-rounder Will Jacks has also been shortlisted after guiding his team to the semi-finals. Batting in a finishing role, Jacks amassed 226 runs at a strike rate of 176.56, while taking nine wickets, including crucial breakthroughs against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. His efforts earned him four Player of the Match awards during the tournament.
South Africa’s fast bowler Lungi Ngidi made the list after claiming 12 wickets in seven matches, consistently delivering decisive spells that propelled the Proteas to the semi-finals. His teammate Aiden Markram, promoted to the top of the order, contributed three half-centuries in eight matches, including unbeaten knocks of 86 against New Zealand and West Indies.
New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra impressed with 128 runs and 11 wickets, highlighted by a four-for against Sri Lanka in the Super Eight stage. Fellow Kiwi Tim Seifert added 274 runs in eight matches, including a vital 58 in the semi-final against South Africa, helping the Black Caps chase down 170 with Finn Allen.
Other notable nominees include Shadley van Schalkwyk of the United States, who took 13 wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 6.80, and India’s Sanju Samson, who delivered match-winning scores of 97 off 50 balls and 89 off 42 deliveries in the knockout rounds.
The Player of the Tournament will be revealed after the final clash between England and India, scheduled for Sunday.
