Mohsin Naqvi Sets Bold Plan To Turn PSL Into World’s Top Cricket League

Mohsin Naqvi Sets Bold Plan To Turn PSL Into World’s Top Cricket League

Mohsin Naqvi wants the Pakistan Super League to move ahead of every other franchise competition, and he said the target is within reach. The room listened closely, and he sounded certain about the direction he wanted the league to take.

A Clear Target and a Confident Voice

Naqvi sat alongside Ramiz Raja and Wasim Akram during the PSL Roadshow panel. The mix of past and present cricketing influence created a charged atmosphere, and he used it to underline his vision. His words came sharp at first, then steadier as he explained why the goal is not as daunting as many assume.

“To make this league the world’s No.1 league. That’s the vision,” he told the audience, pausing just long enough for the statement to land. He looked around, not for approval, but as if checking that everyone understood he meant it.

He credited veterans and current stars for fresh ideas, saying their guidance shaped the direction he wants the PSL to take. Advice from Ramiz, input from Akram, chats with Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, and Sahibzada Farhan; each conversation, Naqvi said, sparked refinements. He sounded grateful, almost relieved, that the league’s future is being built around those who understand its heartbeat.

A Candid Reflection for Investors

Naqvi admitted he once tried to secure a PSL franchise during the inaugural auction in 2016. “My mistake was that I was ready to spend money on just one team,” he said. You could see the disappointment written on his face as he revisited that memory.

He turned that experience into a message for potential investors eyeing the league’s expansion. He urged them to take the risk, but he didn’t. “Whatever you’ll be investing now, after ten years, it will be worth it,” he said, his tone firm.

A League on the Verge of Change

The PSL, which began with five teams, will add two more next year as part of its eleventh edition. The restructuring marks the league’s first significant expansion in seven years. The points table now looks very different in everyone’s imagination. With eight teams, the competition’s landscape expands, the market broadens, and the stakes rise.

Gasps echoed around the venue when officials confirmed the expansion timeline. Some attendees whispered about commercial windows, others about talent pools. The scoreboard of the league itself, metaphorically speaking, is about to reset.

Naqvi closed by saying the next chapter demands boldness and fresh belief. “Get the team,” he urged investors one last time. “You’ll feel good after getting it.” His voice carried the weight of someone who learned the hard way and now wants others to seize the moment he missed.
