LAHORE: In a star-studded gathering ahead of the PSL 11, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi hosted a dinner for franchise owners, team captains, and national and international players on Monday night. The event took place just two days before the highly anticipated season kicked off.
Guests included captains of all eight franchises, the head coach of the national team, and players and staff members, such as Sikandar Raza, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Brendon Wilson. During the evening, the glittering PSL 11 trophy dinner centerpiece the Infinity Trophy was showcased, and the official anthem, Khelenge Beat Pe, was unveiled, building excitement ahead of the tournament.
During his address, Naqvi extended an apology to cricket fans across the country regarding the decision to hold the tournament in only two cities and behind closed doors. He explained the move was made with national interest in mind.
"PSL 11 has been limited keeping in mind national interests due to the regional situation," said Naqvi. "PSL has become a top international brand, and we have to take it further. I deeply apologise to cricket fans. You have to look at the broader interests of the country and nation first."
This adjustment reduces the number of hosting cities from six to two, with matches only in Karachi and Lahore. The opening clash between Hyderabad Kingsmen and Lahore Qalandars remains on schedule, while Lahore will host Eliminators 1 and 2, as well as the final, and Karachi will stage the Qualifier.
With PSL 11 moving to a watch-from-home model, organisers have introduced improved production and broadcast features to enhance the PSL 11 broadcast experience. Fans across Pakistan and worldwide can now enjoy the season’s action-packed matches with premium coverage, ensuring that even without in-person attendance, supporters stay fully connected to the excitement.
