Pakistan Women Crush Zimbabwe in Final T20I to Seal Series Whitewash
Pakistan Women completed a historic whitewash over Zimbabwe Women by defeating them comprehensively in the third T20I at Karachi. The skipper Fatima Sana remained the star performer of the match, as she scored a rapid 62 in the first innings to give Pakistan a big total on the board.
Chasing a tough target of 224 runs, the visitors were bowled out for just 90 in 17.1 overs and suffered a series whitewash after losing all three matches. Zimbabwe faced similar defeats in the opening two games as well.
Left-handed opener Kelis Ndhlovu was the only batter who fought back for Zimbabwe, scoring 32 runs from 13 balls with the help of six fours and a six.
Other Zimbabwe batters struggled badly against Pakistan’s tight bowling display. Adel Zimunu scored 18 runs, while Michelle Mavunga added 13, making them the only other players to cross double figures. Sadia was the standout bowler for the home side, taking three wickets while conceding just 20 runs in her three overs.
The decision of Pakistan Women to bat first worked well, as the home side posted a huge total of 223/4 in their 20 overs.
The green shirts started strongly with new opening pair Muneeba Ali and Ayesha Zafar putting together 58 runs during the powerplay.
Lindokuhle Mabhero gave Zimbabwe an important breakthrough on the first ball of the seventh over by dismissing Muneeba, who scored 22 runs from 17 balls with three fours.
She struck again in her following over by removing Ayesha, who played a strong knock of 45 off just 28 deliveries, including nine boundaries.
After losing quick wickets, Iram Javed came in to bat with Saira. The pair settled things down for Pakistan and added 49 runs for the fourth wicket before Iram was dismissed by Michelle Mavunga in the 17th over.
After that, Saira teamed up with captain Fatima Sana, and the two pushed the scoring in the final phase with a strong 71-run partnership.
Fatima played the main role in that stand, scoring a quick 62 off just 19 balls, hitting 10 fours and two sixes. Saira also played well, staying unbeaten on 50 from 32 deliveries, which included eight fours.
Due to their collective efforts, Pakistan eventually posted a big total of 223 on the board, which proved too big to chase for Zimbabwe, as they bundled out for just 90 in the second innings.
