Pakistan Defeat Oman by 18 Runs to Take Hong Kong Sixes 2026 Plate Title

Pakistan beat Oman by 18 runs in the Plate final of the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 on Sunday. The match took place at Mission Road Ground, and the win gave Pakistan the second-tier title.

Pakistan batted first and scored 154-4. Captain Abbas Afridi led the way with 73 off 16 balls, hitting one four and 11 sixes. He retired after that but came back to bat in the final over. Abdul Samad added 26 off five balls with two fours and three sixes. Ahmed Daniyal made 25 off five balls, including four sixes. Muhammad Shahzad scored 13 off four balls with two sixes, and Khawaja Nafay made seven off three balls.

Oman started well in their chase through Usman Ali and Zohaib Amanat, but they ended on 136-4 after six overs. Usman was the top scorer with 67 off 17 balls, including four fours and eight sixes. Amanat hit 61 off 18 balls, also with four fours and eight sixes. Oman captain Aamir Kaleem was run out for a duck by Ahmed Daniyal. Sami Hassan, Shafiq Jan and Muzahir Khan retired out so that Oman’s best batters could stay at the crease. Usman came back after the first wicket fell, but Oman still finished 18 runs short.

Pakistan have won the Hong Kong Sixes six times, but this year they could not keep their title. They lost to the UAE in their first Group C match. They then beat their rivals India comfortably, but the UAE won their second game too. That put the UAE into the main trophy competition and sent Pakistan into the Plate.

In the Plate semi-final, Pakistan beat hosts Hong Kong by chasing down 107 without losing a wicket. Abbas Afridi stayed not out on 55 off 13 balls. Pakistan then beat Oman in the final and finished fifth overall in the tournament.
