Pakistan, Zimbabwe Captains Unveil Trophy Ahead of Karachi T20I Series

The trophy for the upcoming three-match women’s T20I series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe was officially unveiled in Karachi on Monday, adding excitement ahead of the much-anticipated contest between the two sides.

Pakistan captain Fatima Sana and Zimbabwe skipper Nomvelo Sibanda jointly revealed the silverware and posed for photographs during the ceremony held before the opening match of the series.

The T20I series is scheduled to take place at National Bank Stadium, with all three fixtures set to be played at the same venue. The opening encounter will begin on May 12, while the remaining matches are scheduled for May 14 and 15.

Pakistan Aim to Continue Dominant Form

The home side heads into the T20Is with confidence after a commanding performance in the ODI leg of the tour. Pakistan completed a dominant 3-0 clean sweep against Zimbabwe and will now look to carry that momentum into the shorter format.

Speaking ahead of the series, Fatima Sana expressed satisfaction with the team’s recent performances and highlighted the importance of maintaining consistency as preparations continue for future tournaments.

"We are pleased with the way the team performed in the ODI series and the players showed great discipline and consistency throughout the series. The T20I format brings different challenges, but the momentum and confidence from the ODI series will definitely help us going into this leg of the tour," Fatima told Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Digital.

"It is encouraging to see young players getting opportunities through domestic performances, while the return of experienced players also strengthens the squad. These matches are important for us as we continue our preparations for upcoming international assignments, including the Ireland tri-series and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup."

Important Preparation for Global Tournament

The series carries added significance for both teams as they continue building towards the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be jointly hosted by England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.

For Pakistan, the matches also provide another opportunity to test squad depth and combinations before upcoming international commitments.

The Pakistan squad for the T20I series includes Fatima Sana, Amber Kainat, Aliya Riaz, Ayesha Zafar, Eyman Fatima, Gull Feroza, Iram Javed, Muneeba Ali, Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Rameen Shamim, Sadia Iqbal, Saira Jabeen, Tasmia Rubab and Tuba Hassan.

Meanwhile, Diana Baig, Momina Riasat, Sadaf Shamas, Sidra Amin and Syeda Aroob Shah have been named among the reserve players for the series.
