Pakistan Women posted a strong 343/4 in their 50 overs against Zimbabwe Women in the 2nd ODI at the National Stadium in Karachi. Building on their record-breaking performance from the series opener, the hosts utilized a flat batting surface to dismantle the Zimbabwean bowling attack and set a steep target of 344.
The innings was defined by a massive 189-run opening stand between Gull Feroza and Sadaf Shamas. The pair, who had already put on 162 in the first match, went a step further to provide a flawless start. Gull Feroza anchored the innings with a maiden ODI century, showcasing exceptional timing and placement to keep the run rate above six.
Her partner, Sadaf Shamas, followed up her 98 in the first ODI with another clinical performance. She also scored a century.
Following the departure of the openers, Sidra Amin ensured the momentum did not stall. Amin struck a fluent 59 off 58 balls, using her experience to manipulate the field and find frequent boundaries. While Zimbabwe managed to pick up a few late wickets through Adel Zimunu and Lindokuhle Mabhera, they were unable to contain the scoring in the death overs.
Ayesha Zafar provided a late cameo of 18 off 8 deliveries*, helping Pakistan finish strongly as they plundered over 90 runs in the final 10 overs.
It was a challenging outing for the Zimbabwean bowlers, who struggled with consistency in their lengths. Captain Nomvelo Sibanda rotated her bowlers frequently but found little assistance from the pitch. Christine Mutasa was the most expensive of the lot, conceding 19 runs in her 2 overs. Howeover, Lindokuhle Mabhero was the most economical of the primary bowlers, finishing with 1-52 from her 10 overs.
Despite making three changes to their XI, bringing in Vimbai Mutungwindu for her debut, the visitors remained unable to break Pakistan's rhythm for the majority of the session.
