Islamabad United Player Struck on Head During High-Intensity PSL 11 Training Session

KARACHI: Islamabad United pacer Mir Hamza Sajjad was taken to hospital after being struck on the head during a training session at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre on Tuesday. The incident occurred during a net session when a ball hit the back of his head, forcing an immediate halt to practice.

The young fast bowler briefly lost consciousness following the impact. He was attended to by team staff before being shifted to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation. Initial updates indicate that Mir Hamza Sajjad is conscious and in a stable condition.

Medical Checks Underway

As part of precautionary measures, doctors have scheduled a CT scan to assess any potential internal injury. Team management has yet to issue an official statement, but confirmation of his stable condition has provided some reassurance within the squad.

The incident disrupted preparations, with players and support staff pausing training as medical personnel attended to the situation. The mood in the camp remained subdued following the episode.

Squad Context and Upcoming Match

Mir Hamza Sajjad, a right-arm pacer from Gujrat, is regarded as a developing talent in the T20 format. He has taken eight wickets in six T20 matches and 25 wickets across eight First-Class appearances. He was signed by Islamabad United in the PSL players’ auction for PKR 70 lacs but is yet to make his debut in the league.

Under captain Shadab Khan, Islamabad United are currently placed third on the points table with two wins from four matches, alongside one defeat and one no-result. They have accumulated five points with a net run rate of 1.055.

The side is scheduled to face Lahore Qalandars in their next PSL 11 fixture at the National Bank Stadium on Thursday.
