Imad Wasim took to X following the PSL 11 Player Auction in Lahore on February 10 to share an emotional note. The former Pakistan all-rounder highlighted his excitement at being selected by Islamabad United from the unsold category.
“One team believed, thank you Islamabad United,” he wrote.
He added, “This auction has sparked a fire in me. I’ve always proved my worth, and I will do so again. Every run, every wicket, every game… I’ll show on the field why I was worth the pick. Watch closely the reminder is coming.”
Initially, Wasim went unsold in the opening round, with a base price of PKR 4.2 crore. Islamabad United later secured his services from the unsold list for PKR 2.2 crore.
At 37, Wasim has been a regular figure in T20 leagues worldwide since retiring from international cricket in December 2024. He has led Karachi Kings to a PSL title in 2020 and joined his hometown team, Islamabad United, in 2023.
Across 101 PSL matches, Imad Wasim has scored 1293 runs at a strike rate of 136.97, including seven fifties. With the ball, he has claimed 77 wickets, proving his value as a consistent all-rounder. His experience and leadership are expected to bolster Islamabad United’s squad for the upcoming season.
The 11th edition of the PSL is set to begin in March across five cities in Pakistan. This season includes the addition of two new franchises: Sialkot Stallionz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen. Following the auction, all eight teams have strengthened their squads, with players like Wasim bringing both experience and match-winning potential.
