Australia Defeats Ban in 2nd T20I As Matt Renshaw Blasts Unbeaten 89

Australia Defeats Ban in 2nd T20I As Matt Renshaw Blasts Unbeaten 89

Australia sealed the T20I series with a match to spare after edging Bangladesh by seven runs in Chattogram on Friday, with Australia defeats Ban in 2nd T20I becoming the headline result of a contest that swung several times before the visitors closed it out in the final overs.

The victory means Aus won the T20I series 2-0, ending any hopes of a Bangladesh comeback in the three-match contest. It also marks a turnaround for Australia in Chattogram, where they struggled during their previous visit in 2021.

Renshaw anchors recovery after early setbacks

Australia's innings looked in trouble after Bangladesh made early inroads with spin and disciplined bowling. The visitors lost wickets inside the Powerplay and were forced to rebuild on a surface that offered assistance to the bowlers.

That recovery came through Matt Renshaw, who played the central role in Australia's total of 196 for 5. The left-hander paced his innings carefully before accelerating in the latter stages, remaining unbeaten on 89 from 52 balls. He struck four fours and five sixes during an innings that shifted the momentum back in Australia's favour.

Renshaw found support from Tim David, whose aggressive approach changed the complexion of the innings. The pair added 97 runs for the fourth wicket, allowing Australia to recover from their shaky start and set Bangladesh a target of 197. Bangladesh spinner Nasum Ahmed finished with 2 for 27 and was the most economical bowler for the hosts.

Bangladesh start strongly but lose momentum

Bangladesh responded positively in the chase and raced to 72 runs in the Powerplay. The hosts maintained the required rate for long periods, with Saif Hassan leading the effort with 42 from 33 deliveries.

Parvez Hossain Emon added 36 from 22 balls, and his partnership with Saif kept Bangladesh within touching distance of the target. However, Australia gradually regained control as the innings entered the final phase.

Aaron Hardie made key breakthroughs and finished with figures of 2 for 40. Australia's bowlers executed their plans effectively at the death, restricting boundary opportunities and forcing Bangladesh to take risks.

Despite late hitting from the lower order, Bangladesh ended on 189 for 6, seven runs short of the target.

Series decided with one game remaining

Renshaw was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock, which proved decisive in a closely contested game.

With Aus won the T20I series, Australia will now aim for a 3-0 sweep when the teams meet again in the third and final match on June 21 at the same venue. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will look to finish the series on a positive note after Australia defeats Ban in 2nd T20I to secure the trophy.
