Chattogram: A completed a dominant 3-0 T20I series as Australia whitewashed Bangladesh on Sunday after a seven-wicket victory in 3rd T20I at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram. Johnson tore through the powerplay with terrifying accuracy. He conceded just six runs across his four overs while picking up two crucial wickets. Tanzid Hasan fell early to a sharp run-out for five, before Johnson removed Saif Hassan for one. Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa quickly piled on the pressure. Both bowlers locked down the middle overs to claim two wickets apiece. 

The hosts collapsed to a dangerous 36 for 5 inside nine overs. They looked vulnerable to falling below their lowest-ever T20I score of 70.

Hridoy Wages a Lone Fight

Stand-in captain Towhid Hridoy single-handedly rescued the home side from total humiliation. Wickets continued to tumble around him, but Hridoy held the innings together with a defiant, unbeaten 61 off 51 deliveries. He counter-attacked with three boundaries and three towering sixes, bringing up a courageous 41-ball half-century. Rishad Hossain offered the only other double-figure contribution with 16 runs. Their brief partnership pushed Bangladesh past the 100-run mark to finish on 109 for 8.

The modest target of 110 proved to be a cakewalk for the visitors. Skipper Mitchell Marsh stepped out with extreme aggression, completely dismantling the Bangladeshi bowling lineup from the very first over.

Marsh raced to a blistering 23-ball half-century. He clobbered seven boundaries and four massive sixes during his 28-ball stay. Alongside Josh Inglis, who scored a steady 17, Marsh drove Australia past 50 runs in just 5 overs.

Though Marsh eventually sliced a delivery from Shoriful Islam to deep cover, the damage was already done. Nasum Ahmed and Rishad Hossain grabbed a wicket each to slow down the scoring slightly, but Cooper Connolly and Tim David comfortably closed out the game. David finished the match in style by blasting two consecutive sixes over the boundary ropes, securing the victory with nine full overs to spare.

The clinical win marks a strong comeback for Australia, who successfully redeemed themselves after dropping the bilateral ODI series 2-1 earlier in the tour.
