KARACHI: The Zimbabwe women's cricket team reaches Pakistan on Wednesday to begin their first-ever tour of Pakistan, featuring a six-match white-ball series against the hosts from May 4 to 15. The squad landed at Jinnah International Airport in the evening and was received by Pakistan women’s team manager Ayesha Ashhar.
The touring party will rest on Thursday before starting training later in the evening at the National Bank Stadium, where the entire series will be played. The tour includes three ODIs followed by three T20Is, marking a full-format white-ball contest between the two sides.
The ODI leg will begin on May 3, with matches scheduled on May 3, 6 and 9. The action will then shift to the T20I series, which will take place on May 12, 14 and 15 at the same venue.
All six matches will be played at the National Bank Stadium, giving both sides consistent conditions throughout the tour.
The T20I series will serve as key preparation for ICC Women's T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5. Pakistan are also set to feature in a T20I tri-series in Ireland later this month, involving the hosts and the West Indies.
Zimbabwe have named a 15-member squad led by captain Nomvelo Sibanda. The squad includes Beloved Biza, Olinder Chare, Kudzai Chigora, Melinda Kachingwe, Lindokuhle Mabhera, Precious Marange, Michelle Mavunga, Natasha Mtomba, Christina Mutasa, Vimbai Mutungwindu, Kelis Ndhlovu, Kelly Ndiraya, Runyararo Pasipanodya and Adel Zimunu.
The series marks a historic step for Zimbabwe women as they play their first bilateral series in Pakistan across both ODI and T20I formats.
