Zimbabwe and Namibia are one step away from making history. Both teams have qualified for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier after reaching the final of the Africa regional event in Windhoek. This is exciting for both countries as neither side has ever played in a Women’s World Cup.

Zimbabwe defeated Uganda in the first semifinal, while Namibia saw off Tanzania in the second. The two will now meet in the regional final on Saturday. However, the bigger prize is already secured: a ticket to the global event 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in Nepal.

They join Bangladesh, Ireland, Thailand, Nepal and USA in the qualifier, with three more teams to be confirmed from Europe and East Asia-Pacific. Ten sides will eventually compete in Kathmandu, fighting for just four slots in the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England.

The format is straightforward. There are two groups of five, then a Super Six stage, followed by the final. The tournament runs from January 12 to February 2 at the Lower and Upper Mulpani grounds in Kathmandu.

The 2026 World Cup itself will be the biggest yet, expanding to 12 teams for the first time. Defending champions New Zealand lifted the trophy in Dubai last year, edging South Africa in a tense final.

For now, you can catch the latest updates of the Women’s World Cup 2025 on tapmad. Here is Pakistan’s squad for the Women’s World Cup 2025 starting on 30th September.
