Sikandar Raza to Lead Zimbabwe Against Bangladesh and Afghanistan in UAE ODI Tri-Series

Sikandar Raza will captain Zimbabwe in the upcoming ODI tri-series against Bangladesh and Afghanistan in the UAE from October 17 to 23.

Raza took charge of the team during last month's three-match home series against Australia, as regular captain Richard Ngarava was unavailable. He will continue as ODI captain for the upcoming tournament because Ngarava is still recovering from a back injury.

Notably, Zimbabwe have made two changes to their squad, bringing in uncapped players Tafadzwa Tsiga and Vincent Masekesa in place of Innocent Kaia and Graeme Cremer.

Cremer, who returned to ODI cricket during the Australia series after more than eight years, has not been included this time. Kaia has also missed out after suffering a thigh injury in the final match against Australia.

Zimbabwe will open their campaign against Bangladesh on October 17 before taking on Afghanistan in their second match of the ODI tri-series on October 19.

Zimbabwe’s schedule will remain busy after the one-day tournament, as they are due to meet Afghanistan again in Sharjah for a three-match T20I series followed by two Tests.

The T20I games will take place between October 27 and November 1. Vincent Masekesa has been included in Zimbabwe’s squad for this leg of the tour, while Graeme Cremer and Dion Myers have been left out.
