Wasim Akram Speaks Out After Pakistan Lose Another Test Series to Bangladesh

Pakistan pace great Wasim Akram gave an honest reaction to Pakistan’s back-to-back test defeats against Bangladesh. He said he was disappointed with Pakistan’s performance, but also praised how much Bangladesh have improved in test cricket.

Bangladesh sealed the series on the last day of the Sylhet test by taking three Pakistan wickets, including the important scalp of Mohammad Rizwan. This was Bangladesh’s first test series win over Pakistan at home, adding to their earlier success in Rawalpindi in 2024, where they also won a two-Test series.

Looking back at the series, Akram appreciated how much Bangladesh have improved in every area. He especially noted their better understanding of home conditions and the way they are developing players, including new fast bowlers. The former pace legend felt this growth played a big role in their stunning win over Pakistan in back-to-back test series.

“Really disappointed to see Pakistan beaten for the second time by Bangladesh, but full praise and marks to the winners as they played complete cricket,” said Wasim Akram in a social media post.

Akram pointed out that Bangladesh have moved away from mostly spin-friendly pitches and are now preparing more balanced surfaces that also help fast bowlers. He also praised young fast bowler Nahid Rana for his strong performances and the impact he is making at the top level.

“Bangladesh used to have low, slow and big turners but now they are preparing great test pitches, helping their fast-rising pace bowlers who outpaced Pakistan. Bangladesh are now ready to compete against the best in this format. And what a talent Nahid Rana is treat to watch. Congrats Bangladesh,” said Wasim Akram.

Talking about the match, Pakistan were chasing a huge target of 437, but were bowled out for 358 inside 98 overs. Mohammad Rizwan tried to hold things together with a fighting 94 off 166 balls, however, his late push didn’t help the green shirts to win the match.

Taijul Islam finished with brilliant figures of 6 for 120 in 34.2 overs, which eventually broke apart the chase of Pakistan.
