Sialkot’s Usama Mir Breaks Sohail Tanvir’s Longstanding T20 Mark

Sialkot’s Usama Mir Breaks Sohail Tanvir’s Longstanding T20 Mark

Sialkot’s dressing room erupted when the final wicket fell. The scoreboard confirmed what many inside the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium had just witnessed. Usama Mir 6/8 National T20 Cup 2026 had rewritten Pakistan’s T20 bowling history.

The leg-spinner ripped through Lahore Blues with a spell that felt relentless from the very first delivery. Six wickets. Just eight runs conceded. The numbers alone looked surreal, but the way the collapse unfolded made it even more dramatic.

Gasps echoed around the ground as batters walked back one after another.

Sialkot had earlier piled up 211, a challenging total in any domestic T20 match. Lahore Blues began their chase hoping for momentum, yet Mir had other plans. His variations gripped the surface, the googly deceived batters, and suddenly the chase unraveled fast.

Within 14.2 overs, Lahore Blues were all out for 100. The margin told the story as the Sialkot won by 110 runs.

Record Broken After 17 Years

For years, Usama Mir breaks Sohail Tanvir T20 record would have sounded unlikely. Tanvir’s famous 6/14 for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural IPL back in 2008 stood untouched among Pakistani bowlers.

Now that mark has fallen.

Usama Mir’s 6/8 has taken the top spot for the best bowling figures by a Pakistan player in T20 cricket. The list includes some big names. Mohammad Imran’s 6/16 for Peshawar in 2023. Mohammad Amir’s 6/17 in the Bangladesh Premier League. Faheem Ashraf’s 6/19 for Islamabad United.

Still, none went past Tanvir until this night.

With this spell, Usama Mir breaks Sohail Tanvir T20 record and climbs into the joint ninth position on the all-time global list of best T20 bowling figures. Bhutan’s Sonam Yeshey still leads internationally with 8/7, but Mir’s entry among elite company has drawn attention across Pakistan’s domestic circuit.

The leg-spinner was named Player of the Match, no debate there.

Sialkot walked off with a dominant win. And Mir walked away with a record that had stood for nearly two decades.
