Taskin and Mushfiqur Shift in BCB 2026 Central Contracts as No Player Enters A+

Bangladesh’s fast bowler Taskin Ahmed and veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim have been moved to lower grades in the BCB’s 2026 central contracts. Taskin, previously the only player in the A+ category with a monthly salary of BDT 1 million (US $8169 approx.), now joins the captains in Grade A, earning BDT 800,000 (US $6535 approx.) per month. No player has been placed in the A+ category this year.

Despite strong performances, Taskin’s demotion may be linked to team management reducing his workload across formats to ensure longevity. Mushfiqur, who retired from ODIs in 2025, has been moved from Grade A to Grade B, with a salary of BDT 600,000 (US $4901 approx.) per month. Ten other players, including Test specialists Mominul Haque, Taijul Islam, and Shadman Islam, also feature in this grade.

Promotions and Expansions

Four players, Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Rishad Hossain, and Mahedi Hasan, have been promoted from Grade C to B. Meanwhile, Grade D has expanded from two to seven players, including Saif Hassan and Nurul Hasan, who rejoined the T20I setup last year. Grades C and D offer salaries of BDT 400,000 (US $3,267 approx.) and BDT 200,000 (US $1,633 approx.) per month, respectively.

Upcoming Fixtures

Bangladesh has not played international cricket recently following the government’s decision to skip the ongoing T20 World Cup. The team resumes action with a three-match ODI series at home against Pakistan, scheduled for March 11, 13, and 15.
