Bangladesh has shown its hand early, and the selectors confirmed a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, placing Litton Das in charge and leaning heavily on fast bowling firepower as preparations intensify.
The tournament begins on February 7 across Sri Lanka and India. Bangladesh, ever-present at every edition so far, is once again chasing that elusive deep run.
Litton’s promotion was expected, as his calm approach and improved white-ball form make him the obvious choice.
Tanzid Hasan partners Litton, with Saif anchoring early overs. Parvez Hossain Emon is likely to float at No.4 depending on match-ups, while Tawhid Hridoy and Shamim Hossain add flexibility through the middle stretch.
One omission raised eyebrows, as Jaker Ali, a regular since early 2024, missed out for the first time in nearly a year. Selection meetings were described as firm, not emotional.
Taskin Ahmed’s return changes the tone of the attack immediately. He joins Mustafizur Rahman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam, and Mohammad Saifuddin, giving the Tigers multiple seam options for different surfaces.
Rishad Hossain leads the spin department, backed by Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan, offering control when conditions demand patience rather than aggression.
Bangladesh are in Group C with England, West Indies, Nepal, and Italy. Three Super 8 matches are set for Kolkata, but the BCB is expected to ask the ICC to move them to Sri Lanka due to off-field concerns. Whatever the venue, expectations are clear. This squad is built to compete, not just participate.
