Sylhet Titans defeated Dhaka Capitals with a complete team performance in the recent BPL 2026 clash. They defended a big total of 180 runs comfortably, as Salman Irshad remained their key bowler in the second innings of the match. His spell of 3/25 in four overs broke the back of Capitals batting lineup, as they failed to counter the pressure exerted by him and other bowlers.

Batting first, Sylhet Titans got off to a great start as their openers played positively. Both Parvez Hossain Emon and Tawfique Khan took down the opening attack of Capitals by playing aggressively. Emon was especially impressive, as he played shots all around the ground to score quick runs.

After playing a decent knock of 32 runs, Parvez Hossain Emon went back to the pavilion due to a tight bowling spell by Saif Hassan. After his dismissal, Ariful Islam took the responsibility to maintain a high scoring rate. Just like the last match, he played a sensible knock in today’s game to steady the batting of Titans.

He made a solid partnership with Azmatullah Omarzai, who also played superbly in the first innings. Due to their partnership, Sylhet Titans played with confidence in the middle overs, negating all the pressure put on by Dhaka Capitals. The young Ariful Islam was looking well set to score a fifty, but Ziaur Rahman dismissed him after scoring 38 runs.

Losing the set batter was a big blow for Titans, but Azmatullah Omarzai held the one end firmly to keep things steady. The arrival of Moeen Ali towards the end changed the momentum of the innings. He played a blazing cameo of 28 runs to stun the Capitals bowling lineup. He scored 28 off just 8 balls, smashing 2 fours and 3 sixes in total.

Due to this late surge, Sylhet Titans managed to score 180 at the end of the innings. Moeen Ali was undoubtedly the star performer, as his knock in the end proved decisive for the Titans score.

A Failed Attempt to Chase 181 Runs

When Dhaka Capitals came out to bat, they started the chase confidently. The opening partnership between Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Abdullah Al Mamun gave Capitals a strong momentum in the chase. The duo were looking good to take the innings forward, but Ruyel Miah eventually removed Mamun to give Titans a first breakthrough.

The dismissal of Mamun unsettled the chase of Capitals, as they lost two back-to-back wickets in the middle overs. Meanwhile, Rahmanullah Gurbaz kept playing confidently to take the chase deep. He scored a brilliant fifty off just 44 balls, but unfortunately lost his wicket afterwards.

The dismissal of Gurbaz brought more pressure on the Capitals batting lineup. They started to get nervous in the chase, as more batters kept losing their wickets at regular intervals. This allowed Sylhet Titans to get a strong grip in the match, as they kept bowling tightly to take the required run rate up.

Due to a fine bowling display in the death overs, Sylhet Titans restricted Dhaka Capitals to just 160 runs in the second innings. This allowed them to win the match by 20 runs, securing third position firmly on the points table.
