South Africa started the series against Pakistan on a high note, as they defeated the home side by a big margin of 55 runs in the 1st T20I at Rawalpindi. George Linde was named player of the match due to his all-round performance with both bat and ball. He scored 36 runs and picked 3 wickets in the match to give South Africa a lead in the series.

The match was dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, as the Pakistan team donned pink kits to showcase their commitment to the cause. The South African team also wore Pink Ribbons to support the cause, making the whole match a powerful statement of solidarity and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.

Batting first, South Africa scored a big total of 194 runs in the first innings. They played strongly with the bat, showcasing how proactive they are in adapting to the sub-continent conditions. The batting masterclass of Reeza Hendricks was the highlight of the first innings, in which the Proteas dominated the home team comfortably.

South Africa made a strong start in the Powerplay, as they scored 74 runs inside six overs while losing just 1 wicket. Reeza Hendricks remained the key batter for the visitors as he kept on striking the ball nicely throughout the innings. His knock of 60 runs gave South Africa a solid base to march towards a big total. Meanwhile, George Linde also played a key role down the order, as he smashed quick runs when South Africa was under a bit of pressure.

Due to a collective batting performance from Reeza Hendricks, Tony de Zorzi, and George Linde, South Africa managed to score 194 runs at the end of the first innings. This was a huge total on the Rawalpindi ground, which is usually famous for producing high-scoring matches like this.

When Pakistan came out to bat, they looked completely out of touch. The opening duo of Saim Ayub and Sahibzada Farhan struggled to give the team a strong start. The South African bowlers kept things tight from the start, which made scoring quite difficult for the home team.

The return of Babar Azam also didn’t work for Pakistan, as he got out on a duck, courtesy of some fine bowling by Corbin Bosch. His dismissal brought a lot of pressure on the Pakistan team, as they were relying on Babar to lead the chase in the second innings.

After Babar’s fall, the middle order of Pakistan failed miserably during today’s match. They once again showcased their struggle against spin bowling, making the chase of 194 runs quite difficult. Both Salman Agha and Hasan Nawaz got out cheaply without entering double digits.

Mohammad Nawaz tried to counterattack the South African bowlers by hitting a few boundaries, however, he eventually lost his wicket after scoring 36 runs. His dismissal brought an end to Pakistan’s batting, which remained consistently poor throughout the second innings. As a result, South Africa won the match by 55 runs, taking a solid 1–0 lead in the three-match series.
