Multan Sultans batter Steve Smith has credited teammate Sahibzada Farhan for providing consistent starts at the top of the order during PSL 11, as the side continues to lead the standings.
Farhan has emerged as one of the most productive batters in the early phase of the tournament. He has accumulated 164 runs in four matches and currently sits among the leading run-scorers.
The partnership between Smith and Farhan has been central to the team’s approach. The pair have delivered multiple strong opening stands, allowing the middle order to operate with less pressure during chases.
Speaking after a win over Quetta Gladiators, Smith pointed to the growing understanding between the two.
“My combination with Farhan has become quite strong. Our starts have been good. Farhan is a quality player,” he said while speaking with Peter Siddle.
Smith also highlighted the role of the bowling attack in recent results. He praised the contributions of Mohammad Nawaz and Arafat Minhas for controlling the middle overs and limiting opposition totals.
“The spin bowling was very good. First, Mohammad Nawaz bowled well, and then Arafat Minhas produced an extraordinary spell. Our captain also bowled well. The opposition could have scored over 160, but we managed to restrict them and then chased the target well,” he noted.
In addition, Smith acknowledged the role of vice-captain Shan Masood, citing his composure in finishing games.
“Shan is getting better with every game. He has immense power in his shots. He waits for the right ball and it was a good chase,” Smith added.
