Shubman Gill Becomes No. 1 ODI Batter in ICC Rankings

India captain Shubman Gill has returned to the top of the ICC men's ODI batting rankings, with Gill becoming No. 1 ODI batter emerging as the headline from the latest rankings update. The opener reclaimed the summit after scoring 188 runs in the recent three-match ODI series against England national cricket team, securing the No. 1 position for the third time in his career.

The latest rankings also reflected changes elsewhere, with injuries and recent international performances influencing movements across both the ODI and T20I charts. New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell slipped behind Gill after missing the final two matches of his side's ODI series against the West Indies national cricket team, allowing the India captain to move back to the top.

Rankings Movement Across Formats

While Gill has become No.1 in ODI rankings, several other players also made notable gains. Namibia left-arm spinner Bernard Scholtz climbed to seventh in the ODI bowling rankings after a successful ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series in Utrecht, where his performances against Nepal and the Netherlands helped drive Namibia's campaign.

India also had multiple movers in the T20I batting rankings following the series against Zimbabwe. Teenager Vaibhav Sooryavanshi surged 230 places to 48th after finishing as Player of the Series, having scored 151 runs at a strike rate of 196.10 in just three innings.

Tilak Varma improved to sixth in the batting rankings, while Shreyas Iyer climbed seven places to 24th after contributing consistently throughout the series.

Bowlers register significant gains

The latest update also rewarded strong performances with the ball. Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani advanced 10 places to 26th in the T20I bowling rankings, while India leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi jumped 31 spots to move into 41st.

The rankings reflect a busy period of international cricket, with Gill's return to the top of the ODI batting standings leading a week of notable changes across formats.
