Shreyas Highlights Team-First Approach Over External Pressure After Defeating CSK

Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer revealed the approach that helped his team crush Chennai Super Kings in the latest IPL encounter. He said no one in the team cares about outside noise, as they believe in competing hard with each other to produce results for the team.

Speaking after the match, he said the team wants to play a specific brand of cricket, so they are not afraid of failures or external pressures.

"We've just decided in the dressing room that whatever happens, we are going to play a brand of cricket which is to impress each other, not others outside. So that gives us a certain sort of clarity as well, when we approach the game. It is basically challenging each other inside the dressing room, not outside." said Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer.

He then applauded the character of the team, saying everyone in the squad knows how to deal with a pressure situation effectively.

"I'm glad that everyone's getting to bat in the first two games itself. That gives immense confidence for the team as well. Whenever we're stuck in a pressure situation, people are aware of how to handle them." said Shreyas Iyer.

Talking about the pitch conditions in the recent game, he said the surface offered plenty of assistance to the batters to play their shots freely. He added that the wicket allowed everyone to play positively, knowing they have the batting lineup that goes deep down the order.

"I think it was a belter to bat on. But the way we started was 25 off 3 overs. Suddenly they started picking up from there.” said Shreyas Iyer.

“But it's important that we remain calm. And also the over rate is something we should look up to right now, because five fielders coming in in the last two overs, you sort of know that there's one line to bowl. That's the only part we need to focus on." concluded Shreyas Iyer.
