Arya and Shreyas Shine as Punjab Kings Beat Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026

Punjab Kings defeated Chennai Super Kings in the latest IPL clash, as Shreyas Iyer and Priyansh Arya played stunning knocks to chase down a big total in the second innings. Their onslaught stunned the CSK team, who once again looked clueless with the ball on their home turf.

Batting first, Chennai Super Kings didn’t have a great start, as they lost the in-form Sanju Samson early in the Powerplay. The captain Ruturaj Gaikwad then built a strong partnership with Ayush Mhatre, who showcased his class while playing at number three in today’s match.

The duo built a strong partnership to steady the innings, however, Gaikwad lost his wicket in the 12th over after scoring just 28 runs. Ayush then played confidently alongside Shivam Dube, who launched a counterattack to unsettle the PBKS bowling lineup.

After playing a brilliant knock of 73 off 43 balls, Ayush Mhatre went back to the pavilion in the 13th over, courtesy of some smart bowling by Vijaykumar Vyshak. His dismissal didn’t bring much pressure on Dube, who continued playing big shots to take the scoreboard forward.

Meanwhile, the cameo of Sarfaraz Khan towards the end was also vital, as it helped Chennai Super Kings to finish the innings with a strong score of 209.

When Punjab Kings came out to chase the target, they showcased complete domination from the start of the play. The innings of Priyansh Arya was especially impressive, as he scored quick 39 off just 11 balls at a stunning strike rate of 354. After his dismissal, Prabhsimran Singh and Cooper Connolly took charge and played aggressively against the shaky CSK bowling attack.

Prabhsimran Singh then lost his wicket after scoring 43 runs, allowing the captain Shreyas Iyer to take the lead in the middle. He showcased all his class to take the chase forward, giving Punjab Kings a firm grip in the second innings. Due to his quickfire 50 runs, the Kings completed the chase inside 18.4 overs, securing a big 5-wicket victory over CSK on their home turf. Priyansh Arya was then named Player of the Match, as his knock up the order set the batting foundation for Punjab Kings in the second innings.
