TAROUBA: Former Pakistan captain Shan Masood made a resounding statement on Day 3 of the opening Test match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. He silenced critics with a magnificent, pressure-relieving century. Resuming the Day 3 morning session unbeaten on 88*, Masood safely navigated the initial overs before punching a boundary to secure a glorious Shan Masood's century off 163 deliveries, punctuated by 11 elegant boundaries. 

This milestone officially marks his 7th Test century in international cricket.

Defying the Pressure

This milestone marks a highly significant shan masood's century against West Indies, serving as a monumental personal victory. Bouncing back after recently being relieved of the Test captaincy following a difficult period, the top-order batsman was under immense scrutiny.

He absorbed the initial shock of losing young opener Azan Awais early to Kemar Roach, combining with Imam-ul-Haq (63) for a massive 155-run second-wicket partnership. While he initially attacked the bowling with a fiery 46-ball half-century, he showcased exemplary maturity by grinding through a disciplined evening session on Day 2. 

His patient defiance ensured his presence into Day 3 to spearhead Pakistan's reply with this spectacular shan masood century in 1st Test.

Current Match Situation

Pakistan currently stands in a promising position at 232/3 in 58 overs. Trailing the West Indies' first-innings total of 311 by 79 runs, the visitors have tilted the balance heavily in their favor. Masood is anchoring the crease alongside Salman Ali Agha, who is working to provide solid stability from the other end.

Earlier in the match, the West Indies were bundled out for 311 after a lower-order collapse engineered by Pakistan's pace spearhead Mohammad Ali, who finished with superb figures of 4/50. Despite resilient knocks from Shai Hope (92) and Kavem Hodge (84), the Caribbean side has found themselves on the back foot as Pakistan looks to eclipse their total and establish a hefty first-innings lead.
