Pakistan stands on the verge of taking absolute control over the West Indies in the 1st Test at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy. Trailing by a mere 112 runs with seven wickets still in hand, Pakistan has engineered a platform from which they can dictate the entire narrative of this match.

Pakistan Looks Good to Take a Strong Lead

Despite the late wickets, Pakistan is in a prime position to take a definitive lead on Day 3. The visitors want to completely blow past the West Indian total and construct a first-innings cushion of at least 100 runs. 

The spotlight shines entirely on Shan Masood, who remains unbeaten on 88 and is just 12 runs away from a magnificent Test century. He will resume the morning with Salman Ali Agha (0*). If this pair can safely navigate the initial 90 minutes, dangerous middle-order finishers like Mohammad Rizwan and Aamir Jamal are fully capable of exploiting a tired bowling lineup to push the total beyond 400.

Can West Indies Falter Pakistan's Plans?

The West Indies know they are only one quick wicket away from exposing the lower order. Armed with a hard ball, pacers Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales will look to exploit early morning moisture and overhead humidity. If the Windies can dismiss Masood early, they can stop Pakistan from taking a lead and effectively turn this match into a second-innings shootout.
