Shaheen Promises Full Support for the Young Team Despite Bangladesh Thrashing

The ODI captain of Pakistan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, is backing his young team despite suffering a hard thrashing at the hands of Bangladesh in the first ODI. He believes the young team needs some chances to showcase their skills, so everyone must need to keep patience with them.

Pakistan faced a humiliating defeat against Bangladesh today in the 1st ODI at Dhaka. It was a dominant performance from the home team that didn’t give Pakistan a sniff in the match. As a result, Bangladesh won the game by 8 wickets, taking a crucial 1–0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

Speaking about the performance of the team after the match, Shaheen admitted that it was a disappointing effort from the team, but they are confident to turn things around in the upcoming match. He especially gave credit to Nahid Rana for bowling exceptionally well to give Bangladesh a strong edge in the match.

"Yeah, I think we started well when Nahid Rana came. So I think he bowled really well. And yeah, the start we wanted, that was not achieved for the first game, but there are still two games, and as a team we're ready for that," said Shaheen Shah Afridi at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Shaheen then expressed his full support for the young team, saying he will back them till the end, no matter what the outcome of the series is.

"Yeah, I think when you [lose], there were a lot of points you want to mention, but I feel this is a young team and I'll back this team till the end," said the ODI captain of Pakistan.

Shaheen then reminded the team of the importance of building partnerships, saying it is something the team needs to work on to win the upcoming matches.

"I think just a small reminder for the team, I think just partnership building, and in one-day cricket, you need partnership, bowling and batting both ways. But yeah, there are two games, and we focus on the other game as well," concluded Shaheen Shah Afridi.
