PCB’s new role and Sarfaraz Ahmed’s update once again dominated chatter on Sunday after the former Pakistan captain was quietly handed a major assignment inside the board. The timing feels interesting and also strategic for the future of Pakistan cricket.

Sources confirmed he will now supervise the Pakistan Shaheens and the Under-19 setup, giving him a seat close to the pipeline where future stars are shaped. That alone tells a story. A long one, if you ask people around the corridors.

His new duty includes working with coaches, sorting squad matters, and handling travel planning for domestic and international tours. His role sounds straightforward on paper, but this will shape the future of young cricketers. Fans now hope the atmosphere around junior cricket will be very different and merit will rise.

Sarafarz Ahmed might also travel with the squads. Some wondered if the Pakistan Cricket Board news hinted at a slow transition toward a broader coaching future. Others simply felt he deserved it after carrying Pakistan on his shoulders for years.

This is not his first stint with the board. He worked earlier as a mentor in the Champions Cup, guiding the Dolphins. Those who saw him up close said the players listened, as his voice carries weight.

Even in PSL 10, while serving as Quetta Gladiators’ Team Director, he spoke openly about the challenge of shifting from the crease to the dressing-room desk. The man admitted that himself. “You have to learn fast,” he once said, and you could see the honesty on his face. More than 8 years as Gladiators’ captain meant he knew every beat of leadership, from quiet tactical calls to loud motivational roars.

One memory always comes back. 2017 Champion trophy win and Quetta’s 2019 win. Fans still talk about those nights. If you stood there, you would remember the roar that rolled across the stadium.

With 54 Tests, 117 ODIs, and 61 T20Is, Sarfaraz is not stepping into this job as a rookie, far from it. With his PCB’s new role shaping pathways and the Sarfaraz Ahmed update stirring talks everywhere, the next few months could reveal a bigger picture. Something is definitely brewing, and cricket followers can’t stop guessing what comes next.
