Pakistan middle order batter, Salman Ali Agha, said that teams should always display sportsman spirit no matter how tough the situation of the match is. He referred to this because of an incident in the second ODI in which he was run out by Bangladesh skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz in a bizarre fashion.
Salman Ali Agha looked visibly furious when he was asked to go back due to an unusual run-out at the non-strikers' end. He became quite upset after that, as his reaction showcased his clear disappointment.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Salman Ali Agha acknowledged that his frustration came out due to the heat of the moment, as he was a bit upset.
"I can tell you what happened after that. I mean, I'm sure everyone has seen. But it's just the heat of the moment kind of stuff," said Salman Ali Agha while talking at the post-match press conference.
"If you ask me what I would have done? I would have done things differently. But it was everything that happened after that, it was heat of the moment.” added Salman Ali Agha.
Salman then admitted that the decision given by the umpire was totally correct, as it adheres to the law. However, he also said that sometimes players should showcase sportsman spirit, no matter how tough the situation is.
"Well, it is in the law. I'm someone who always wants to follow the law. But sometimes when it comes to sportsman spirit things, well, I think sportsman spirit has to be up there, no matter what the situation.” said Salman Ali Agha.
Salman then gave his own perspective on the incident, saying he might have done things differently if he had been in Miraz’s place.
"What he has done, I think, if he thinks it's right, it's right. But if you ask me, my perspective, I would have done differently. I would have gone for sportsman spirit." said Salman Ali Agha.
