Saim Ayub Reaches 1,000 PSL Runs as Kingsmen Opener Joins League’s Elite 1K Club

Saim Ayub became the latest batter to complete 1,000 runs in PSL during Hyderabad Kingsmen’s Pakistan Super League match against Multan Sultans at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Wednesday. The milestone was reached when the left-hand opener struck a boundary off Shehzad Gul in the opening over of the innings.

The 23-year-old is now among a select group of batters to cross the four-figure mark in the league, joining PSL star players such as Babar Azam, Shoaib Malik and Sarfaraz Ahmed. He is also the first Kingsmen player to reach the milestone in the tournament.

Majority of Runs Came for Peshawar Zalmi

Although currently representing Hyderabad Kingsmen, most of Ayub’s PSL runs were scored while playing for Peshawar Zalmi between the 2023 and 2025 seasons, where he developed into a regular top-order batter. He originally made his PSL debut for Quetta Gladiators in the 2021 edition.

His all-round ability has made him a valuable T20 player in recent seasons.

Price Tag and Recent Form

Saim Ayub was signed by Hyderabad Kingsmen for Rs126 million ahead of the PSL 11 auction, making him one of the most expensive local signings in league history. However, his performances in the early matches of the season have been modest, with low scores in the opening two games.

During the ongoing match against Multan Sultans, he reached the milestone early in the innings, taking his overall PSL tally beyond 1,000 runs and adding another achievement to his T20 career.
