Rangpur Riders thumped Chattogram Royals by 7 wickets in the fifth match of the BPL 2026. They won the match on the back of a high-quality bowling performance by Faheem Ashraf, who took a five-wicket haul in the first innings. His brilliant spell destroyed the Royals’ middle order, who looked clueless against the seam and swing offered by the pitch.

Batting first, Chattogram Royals faltered early, as they lost their English opener Adam Rossington in the Powerplay. They were hoping that Rossington would start briskly in the Powerplay, however, Nahid Rana removed him for just 1 run. His dismissal put some pressure on the Royals, but Mohammad Naim played beautifully to provide a counterpunch.

Playing alongside Mirza Baig, Mohammad Naim made sure to keep the scoring rate high by hitting boundaries consistently. He struck at a strike rate of 195, hitting 8 fours and a six in the first innings. He was looking well set to score a quick fifty, however, Mustafizur Rahman castled him with a stunning delivery for 39 runs.

This was a big blog for the Chattogram Royals, as they were relying on Naim to play a big innings. The middle order of Royals then failed miserably, as Faheem Ashraf came up with a breathtaking bowling spell that took 5 wickets. The captain of Chattogram Royals Mahedi Hasan also could not make an impact, as he was dismissed for just 1 run by Faheem’s quality bowling.

Due to being completely outclassed by Riders’ performance, Chattogram Royals were bowled out for just 102 runs at the end of the first innings. They looked completely out of touch with the bat, as no batter managed to play a big knock or show much fight against the rampant Rangpur Riders bowlers.

From the bowling perspective, Faheem Ashraf was the standout performer, as he registered a superb figure of 5/17 in his four overs.

Strong Opening Partnership by Litton Das and Dawid Malan

When the Rangpur Riders came out to bat, they played with confidence, knowing the target was not very big. Their prolific openers, Litton Das and Dawid Malan, showcased their batting prowess, with Das taking the lead by attacking the Chattogram bowlers aggressively.

Their big partnership took the game away from Chattogram Royals, who looked quite dejected in the bowling. Litton Das finally got out after scoring 47 runs at a superb strike rate of 151. Similarly, Dawid Malan also scored a brilliant fifty off just 48 balls, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Rangpur Riders finally completed the chase in the 15th over for the loss of just 3 wickets. They showcased complete domination against the Chattogram Royals team, which looked out of form in today’s match. Faheem Ashraf was awarded Player of the Match at the post-match presentation ceremony, as his first-innings performance gave the Riders a decisive edge over the Royals.
