Bangladesh sealed a 2-0 T20I series win against the Netherlands after persistent rain washed out the third and final game of the Bangladesh vs Netherlands T20I series at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Only 18.2 overs were possible in Bangladesh’s innings, but that was enough for captain Litton Das to showcase a knock of real quality.
Litton, who returned to the top of the order after several changes to the XI, blasted 42 off his first 16 balls before slowing down in the middle overs. His 46-ball 73 was marked by clean hitting, including a sequence of three boundaries and a six off Daniel Doram in one over. Despite being dropped twice, he anchored Bangladesh’s 164 for 4 before the skies intervened again.
Kyle Klein suffered a very average outing, recording 53 in four overs, but picking up three wickets. Netherlands also recovered following the initial rain break due to disciplined performances by Tim Pringle and Aryan Dutt. With late momentum added by Nurul Hasan and Jaker Ali, a brisk stand they did not have time to build on when heavy rain fell.
The no-result gave the Netherlands a chance to escape a whitewash, but Bangladesh won the series easily, 2-0, having won the first two games. To Bangladesh, the series was also a test ground before the upcoming Men T20 Asia cup. For Netherlands, the tour still provided some positives, with younger bowlers showing promise in conditions that tested their adaptability.
Fans looking back at standout efforts across the Bangladesh vs Netherlands T20I series will remember Litton’s fluent stroke play and the fight shown by Dutch bowlers in Sylhet.
