Yasir Khan’s Firepower Powers Rawalpindi Pindiz to 214/4 in Pindiz vs Peshawar Zalmi Opener

Yasir Khan’s Firepower Powers Rawalpindi Pindiz to 214/4 in Pindiz vs Peshawar Zalmi Opener

In the most awaited Pindiz vs Peshawar Zalmi match, the Rawalpindi Pindiz announced their arrival as serious contenders in PSL 2026. They posted a formidable 214/4 against Peshawar Zalmi at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The story of the innings was undoubtedly the 125-run opening partnership between the seasoned Mohammad Rizwan and the explosive Yasir Khan. From the first ball of the match, the intent was clear. While Rizwan played the role of the steady anchor, maneuvering the strike with his trademark grit, Yasir Khan took on the mantle of the aggressor.

Yasir’s 83 off just 46 deliveries was a masterclass in timing and raw power, featuring six maximums that frequently sent the Lahore crowd into a frenzy. His ability to manipulate the field and target the shorter boundaries left Babar Azam’s side visibly frustrated during the powerplay.

Zalmi’s seasoned pace attack, led by Luke Wood and Salman Irshad, struggled to find a consistent line and length early on. The Pindiz openers capitalised on every loose delivery, racing to 65 without loss in the first six overs. Even the introduction of spin didn't immediately stem the flow of runs. Rizwan, eventually falling for a well-made 41, provided the perfect platform for the middle order to explode.

Despite a brief wobble in the middle overs where Zalmi managed to pick up two quick wickets. The late-innings fireworks were provided by the lower order, ensuring that the hard work of the openers wasn't squandered. The final five overs yielded 62 runs, a period of play that saw the Zalmi death bowling crumble under the pressure of high-octane hitting.

For Peshawar Zalmi, it was a tough day in the field. While Sufiyan Muqeem showed flashes of brilliance with his variations, the lack of support from the other end meant the Pindiz batters could always find a release valve.

Chasing 215 in this PSL 11 fixture, is a monumental task at the Gaddafi Stadium.

The stage is now set for a massive chase, but the first half of the match belonged entirely to the "Pindiz Boys" and their clinical demolition of the Zalmi attack.
