The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has rescheduled the National T20 Cup Final between Karachi Whites and Abbottabad Region due to persistent rain in Peshawar. They were forced to cancel the fixture, as the waterlogged outfield at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium made the conditions far from ideal to start the match.
The Abbottabad Region and Karachi Whites were slated to compete in the National T20 Cup Final on Thursday. However, officials were forced to postpone the game because of the persistent rain that prevented any play on the ground. In light of this, the PCB will now confirm a new date and location where the final between the two teams will be played in the coming days.
The most recent disruption comes after the second semi-final, which took place at the same location and endured a similar fate without a ball being bowled in the second innings. As a result, Abbottabad Region were given the go-ahead to reach the National T20 Cup Final, as their performances in the group stage matches were better than Lahore Whites.
Talking about that match, Lahore Whites produced a strong batting performance in the first innings that allowed them to post 194 on the board for the loss of six wickets. Their openers, Mohammad Ikhlaq and Mohammad Faiq started the innings briskly by putting up a strong partnership. Imran Dogar then took the momentum forward by hitting quick boundaries, as his knock of 62 runs gave Lahore a commanding total on the board.
Unfortunately, the match had to be abandoned since Abbottabad's chase of 195 was stopped due to heavy rain in the second innings. Their superior standing on the group stage points table allowed them to outclass the Lahore team, securing a spot in the final of the tournament. They will now wait for the PCB’s decision to announce the next date, as Karachi Whites are also looking forward to having a good game in the National T20 Cup final.
