Abbottabad Defeat Lahore Whites to Book Final Clash with Karachi Whites in National T20 Cup

In a rain-affected second semi-final at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Abbottabad Region overcame the brilliance of Lahore Whites to earn a spot in the National T20 Cup final. Despite not getting the opportunity to bat in the second innings, they remained fortunate to proceed to the final due to their strong position on the points table at the end of the group stage matches.

Batting first, Lahore Whites got off to a steady start thanks to a strong opening stand from Mohammad Ikhlaq and Mohammad Faiq. The duo was looking to forge a big partnership, but Shahab Khan dismissed Mohammad Faiq for 18 runs to give Abbottabad a first breakthrough in the match.

Mohammad Ikhlaq then built a strong partnership with Imran Dogar, who played superbly in today’s match by scoring 62 off just 31 balls. His innings was vital for Lahore, as it allowed them to put pressure on the Abbottabad bowling lineup.

Shahab Khan then made a strong comeback by dismissing Imran Dogar, showcasing his ability to pick wickets under tough situations. Shortly after that, the Lahore Whites were reduced to 127-4 in 13.3 overs as Tayyab Tahir was cheaply dismissed by Shahab for just 2 runs in the same over.

Muhammad Mohsin and Farhan Yousaf then gave the game a late boost by contributing crucial runs in the final moments of the first innings. With the score at 163-5 in 17 overs, Mohsin was removed by Fayaz Khan after scoring 24 off 16 balls, including one four and two sixes. Shahab Khan continued his outstanding effort, as he dismissed captain Aamer Jamal for just one to take his fourth wicket.

In the end, the Lahore Whites scored a respectable total, with Ahmed Daniyal contributing 5 off 3 balls and Farhan staying undefeated on 33 off 19 deliveries, hitting six fours.

The second innings of the match was then abandoned completely due to persistent rain, giving Abbottabad Region an unusual victory over the spirited Lahore Whites team. They will now face Karachi Whites in the National T20 Cup final, which will take place at the same venue on March 18.
