RAWALPINDI: On Tuesday, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to inspect the security arrangements for the ongoing ODI between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Naqvi had inspected the security arrangement during his visit and assured the Sri Lankan team that it had been given the status of a state guest and therefore their safety.
“The Sri Lankan cricket team has been given state guest status. There will be no compromise on the security of the visiting team,” he stated.
He also emphasized the importance of promoting sports and peace, underscoring that this is a shared goal.
“Promoting sports and other activities along with peace and stability is our common goal,” he added.
In the opening game of the three-match ODI series, Pakistan had made a huge score of 299-5 in 50 overs, having been brought down to 95-4 in the early part of the game.
Salman Ali Agha and Hussain Talat saved Pakistan by a fifth-wicket partnership of 138 runs. Agha did not go out with 105 out of 87 balls, hitting nine fours, and Talat got a constant 62 out of 63 balls, six fours, and a six.
For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga had three wickets, Asitha Fernando had one wicket, and Maheesh Theekshana had one wicket.
