The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially unveiled the schedule for Australia’s upcoming white-ball tour, confirming a three-match ODI campaign in Rawalpindi and Lahore later this month. The series marks Australia’s first 50-over visit to Pakistan since 2022, a tour still remembered for Pakistan’s tense 2-1 triumph.
Australia’s squad will land in Islamabad on 23 May before the opening clash at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on 30 May. The remaining fixtures shift to Lahore, where Gaddafi Stadium hosts games on 2 and 4 June.
For local supporters, this one carries extra intrigue. Several senior Australian names could miss the trip because of ongoing IPL commitments. That has opened the door for fresh combinations and possible leadership changes inside the touring camp.
Mitch Marsh sits right in the middle of that conversation. Lucknow Super Giants have struggled badly in recent weeks, and if their campaign ends early, Marsh could arrive in Pakistan sooner than expected. Josh Inglis is another name under discussion after his steady run in white-ball cricket.
The bigger talking point revolves around who will not travel. Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood are all expected to skip both the Pakistan and Bangladesh tours as Australia manage workloads ahead of a packed international calendar.
Travis Head may also stay back to focus on preparations for Australia’s home Test assignments later this year. That changes the entire feel of this squad. Few saw that coming.
Still, the visitors carry enough depth to make this series highly competitive. Cameron Green, Cooper Connolly and Xavier Bartlett could all feature depending on how the IPL playoff race unfolds over the next two weeks.
The PCB ODI schedule also keeps evening starts for every match, with the toss fixed for 4pm local time and first ball at 4:30pm. Lahore is expected to draw packed crowds again after Pakistan’s dominant 3-0 T20I sweep over Australia earlier this year at the same venue.
That memory still lingers with fans. Gasps echoed around Gaddafi Stadium during that series whenever wickets tumbled. This tour now offers Australia a quick chance to answer back in the ODI format.
The Pakistan vs Australia ODI series also acts as an important build-up before Australia head to Bangladesh for another limited-overs assignment beginning on 9 June. Meanwhile, the PCB ODI schedule has already sparked heavy excitement among supporters waiting for another packed cricket summer.
