Pakistan Shaheens did an excellent job of putting aside India A with a calm, almost confident stride at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium. The win felt routine on the scoreboard, but there were moments when the noise around the ground told a richer story.
India’s modest 136 never looked enough. Not on this surface. Not with the Shaheens batting with such clarity.
The chase began with domination. Maaz Sadaqat and Mohammad Naeem walked out with a purpose, and it showed straight away. Sadaqat timed the ball sweetly from the first over. Naeem chipped in with a quick cameo that kept the Indian bowlers guessing. A 55-run opening stand in just over five overs set the pace. Then Naeem fell, caught after a brisk 14, but Pakistan hardly paused.
Sadaqat kept swinging the momentum. He looked settled, relaxed even, and every shot carried a sense of authority. That knock had class written all over it. He reached his second fifty of the tournament with ease, and you could hear the Pakistan dressing room react the moment he punched the ball through point. That shot had the crowd on its feet.
Yasir Khan walked in, tried to keep the rhythm flowing, and chipped a couple of crisp boundaries before departing for 11. He could not carry on the innings. Just enough to keep the scoreboard busy. Yet the real partnership came after him.
Mohammad Faiq joined Sadaqat. The two worked the chase like old mates in a backyard game. Simple strokes and calm running. A boundary here, a six there. Suddenly, India looked flat. You could see the disappointment written on a few faces in the field. Pakistan crossed 100 in the tenth over, and the chase drifted toward a quiet finish.
Sadaqat finished unbeaten on a superb 79 from just 47 balls. Seven fours. Four huge hits. Pure control. Faiq stayed with him on 16 not out as the target was wiped out with 40 balls still waiting to be used.
Earlier in the day, India A had started brightly. Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya struck the ball cleanly during a 30-run opening stand. For a brief spell, India looked ready to post something competitive. But cricket loves a twist, and Pakistan forced one.
Shahid Aziz’s spell cracked the innings open. Three wickets, all well earned, and each one tightened the screws. Maaz Sadaqat chipped in with two of his own. Saad Masood picked up a pair as well. You could feel the tension lift every time the stumps rattled. India slipped from 79 for one to all out in the 19th over.
Suryavanshi’s 45 off 28 had style. Arya’s 35 off 20 added energy. But once those two were gone, the innings drifted into panic. Gasps echoed around the stadium when the collapse truly kicked in.
Pakistan Shaheens now march into the semi-final with momentum, confidence, and a batting unit that looks alive. Not many expected Pakistan to win by this margin. Yet here they are, quietly making a statement.
